Nimmanhaemin cafe founded in 2011 by a world latte art champion.

Arnon Thitiprasert spent six years making coffee in Sydney before opening Ristr8to on Nimmanhaemin Road in 2011, when it sold about eight cups a day. He won Thailand's National Latte Art Championship three years running from 2015, then the 2017 World Latte Art Championship in Budapest.

Arnon has said he is obsessed with the number eight, noting that Arabica has 44 chromosomes, which a doppio ristretto doubles to 88. When Sprudge visited, every menu price contained an eight and single origins from Thailand, Colombia, Guatemala and Kenya rotated monthly. Around 2020 Arnon left to build Roast8ry as a separate brand.

At this shop

The shop opens straight onto Nimmanhaemin Road with no front wall, behind a terrace of dark timber benches and mint-green chairs on stepped concrete. The bar runs down the right of a deep interior, its front made of reclaimed boards, under chalkboard walls hand-lettered with a brew guide and a flowchart for choosing a drink.
