Miki prepares the baked goods from Japanese recipes, with natural yeast in the baguettes, buns, scones, and bagels. Thames works the bar on a La Marzocco Strada, pulling a seasonal espresso blend from Bangkok roastery Samadool Coffee with caramel and chocolate notes.
The cafe takes the ground floor of an old two-storey house with a dark timber upper storey and a rusted tin-tile awning. One long room runs back from large street windows hung with sheer curtains, with a timber-clad counter and pastry cases down one side and white-painted brick walls opposite. The cafe is styled after Japanese zakka cafes, and Japanese magazines sit on display.
