Fai and Ton set up Cottontree in 2015 and named it from their own names: Fai is Cotton, Ton is Tree. In 2018 a 2 kg Has Garanti roaster sat behind glass at the back of the room, producing light roasts of Thai single estates, including Mae Jantai from Surasak farm in Chiang Rai and Sirinya farm in Doi Chang, with Ethiopian and Kenyan lots in season. The shop won Brian's Coffee Spot 2018 Best Physical Space Award.
It stands inside the Green Hill Place condominium complex behind Maya Mall, in a tall white room with black steel trusses and windows facing a garden. A La Marzocco Strada sits on a dark timber bar beside a turquoise grinder, and a shaded terrace runs outside.
